When combined with a water treatment plant a filter press can completely remove the use of settling ponds or mud lagoons. The filter press is a simple machine which separates the solids contained in a waste slurry from the water producing dry cake which is easily handled and disposed of. In addition, the water is completely recovered and recycled back to the washing process.
